TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – Hot and dry has been the name of the game for the past few days, but high pressure breaks down today, which will bring back even more showers this afternoon.
Independence Day Heat
As we celebrate America’s 450th birthday, you’ll want to be at the pool party. It is going to be hot in the mid-90s and humid with a mix of sun and clouds through early afternoon. Stay extra hydrated today! Any parades or activities this morning will be great, just hot and muggy.
Showers and a few storms will get going after lunchtime, so if you are playing in the pool be sure to stay weather aware and head inside when lightning strikes.
If you are heading to the coast for the 4th of July, the weather looks perfect. Winds around 5 knots and seas will be 1 foot or less. UV index is extreme, so be sure to reapply sunscreen if you are spending most of the day on the water or outside.
Fireworks forecast
Any evening showers should wrap up between 6 and 7 p.m., leading to a warm and humid evening for fireworks, so grab the portable fans and waters to keep yourself cool as sunset arrives. I expect it to be dry for the fireworks across the area.
Avoid setting off fireworks where it has been extremely dry, particularly near the coast and close to I-75.
Heat and some showers tomorrow
Now that high pressure has weakened, the area will fall under a more traditional summer weather pattern with hot afternoons and showers between lunch and dinner. Highs in the middle 90s.
More heat next week
I do not see any major shifts in the weather pattern or major weather features to be concerned about. We will have our daily afternoon showers and storms. Some of us will get the rain while others miss out. It is just the name of the game during the summer in the southeast. Highs will gradually warm into the middle and upper 90s. Morning lows muggy in the mid-70s.
