TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – Hundreds of people laced up their running shoes at Cascades Park on Saturday for the annual Firecracker 5K and sparkler run.
“I ran today because what better way to celebrate freedom than to use your body,” Chynise Williams said. “It’s always really, really cool to see so many people from many different backgrounds and to see everybody push each other.”
Williams said she started running in 2024, and now, she aims for at least two 5K races per month.
“It’s always fun to be out here and just be with your fellow peers who just want to be active,” Williams said. “It’s amazing.”
The Firecracker 5K happens every year on Independence Day and helps raise money for the Capital City Kiwanis Club.
