ST. LUCIE COUNTY, Fla. (WFLA) — Body camera video shows deputies rescuing two people after their boat sank in the Florida Intracoastal Waterway on Wednesday.

The St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office said it responded to reports of a small, motorized boat that took on water, eventually becoming submerged.

According to body camera video, the two boaters were wearing life jackets while waiting for help to arrive.

“What a glorious day,” a boater said when deputies arrived.

Deputies safely brought the pair aboard their patrol vessel and transported them back to the boast ramp, SLCSO said.

“This incident serves as an important reminder that wearing a life jacket can save your life,” SLCSO said.
