FORT PIERCE, Fla. (CBS12) — A 26-year-old Fort Pierce man was arrested on multiple felony charges after detectives allegedly discovered child sexual abuse material during an Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) investigation, authorities said.

The St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office announced on Thursday that its detectives with the Criminal Investigations Division, assisted by the agency’s SWAT Team, executed a search warrant on the morning of July 1 at a residence on North 16th Court in Fort Pierce, near Lincoln Park Academy, a public magnet school. During the operation, investigators conducted interviews and seized several electronic devices for forensic examination.

Authorities said detectives later determined one of the devices contained child sexual abuse material, commonly known as CSAM.

The investigation led to the arrest of Carlos Francisco Vasquez Gonzalez, 26, of Fort Pierce, who was charged with seven counts of possession of obscene material depicting the sexual performance of a child. Vasquez Gonzalez is being held without bond at the St. Lucie County Jail, according to SLCSO.

Sheriff Richard Del Toro said the agency remains committed to protecting children and pursuing those accused of exploiting minors.

The Sheriff’s Office said the investigation remains active and encouraged anyone with information related to crimes involving the exploitation of children to contact the agency or submit a tip through the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children’s CyberTipline.
