It is Election Day in the City of Orlando for Districts 1, 3 & 5. Polls are open until 7pm.
Voter turnout from vote-by-mail and early voting was under 10%. In total, only 5,382 people returned a vote-by-mail ballot and only 1,038 voters cast ballots during the early vote period. According to the Orange County Supervisor of Elections, there are 88,616 total active eligible voters.
Overall voter turnout is expected to be pathetically low once again – a problem that plagues local Orlando elections.
In two of the races, it is shaping up to be State Representative Anna Eskamani, current candidate for Mayor in 2027, versus Mayor Buddy Dyer. Progressive Democrat Anna Eskamani endorsed Democratic candidate Tom Keen in District 1, while Mayor Buddy Dyer endorsed Republican Jim Gray, who attacked Eskamani in his campaign mailer which was also called “homophobic” by State Senator Carlos Smith. In District 3, Eskamani and other local Democrats endorsed Mira Tanna, while Mayor Dyer endorsed Roger Chapin to replace Commissioner Robert Stuart who is not running for reelection.
The candidates running to serve on the City Council this year include:
District 1:
Manny Acosta Qualified
Jim Gray (incumbent)
Sunshine Linda-Marie Grund
Tom Keen
District 3:
Samuel Chambers
Roger Chapin
Chris Durant
Kimberly Kiss
Mira Tanna
District 5:

On Election Day, registered voters casting their ballot must vote at their assigned polling place.
