CAPE CORAL, Fla. – On Friday, July 3, 2026, at around 9 PM, with the help of the Fort Myers Police Department, Jamar Maurice James Jr. (DOB 10/27/2006) was located at Sky Zone Trampoline Park in Fort Myers, Florida and arrested on multiple charges related to a shooting in Cape Coral.
On June 2, 2026, at around 12:25 AM, officers with the Cape Coral Police Department were called to the McDonald’s at 8 NE Pine Island Road, Cape Coral, Florida in reference to a disturbance involving a firearm.
Witnesses told dispatchers there was a disturbance in the parking lot and an individual fired multiple gunshots from the front passenger seat of a black SUV that then fled the area.
Officers on scene learned no one was injured. Officers spoke to several witnesses and reviewed videos which showed a man brandishing a handgun while in an argument with bystanders. The suspect was wearing a black mask, green camo hooded sweatshirt, light shorts, and black and white slides.
Detectives with the Violent Crimes Unit responded and reviewed surveillance video of the disturbance, which involved several young adults. During the disturbance, the male suspect who brandished a firearm was observed getting into the front passenger seat of a black Chevrolet Suburban before firing multiple gunshots from within the vicinity of a crowd of onlookers. The vehicle then fled the area before law enforcement officers arrived on scene.
Forensics personnel processed the scene and collected evidence. Through the investigation, detectives identified the suspect as Jamar Maurice James Jr. (DOB 10/27/2006). He was arrested on July 3 and taken to the Lee County Jail on the following charges:
