The Miami Heat’s links to LeBron James have gained another layer of intrigue after Giannis Antetokounmpo’s latest viral exchange.

During a conversation with American streamer Neon, Giannis was asked who his basketball GOAT is. The new Heat superstar then pointed to James.
“The person I like to watch a lot is LeBron James. I like to watch him,” Giannis said.
When Neon reminded him that James is currently a free agent, Giannis did not deny the idea or elaborate on it. Instead, he simply reacted with a playful “ayyyy.”
The exchange comes at a time when Miami has already been mentioned as a possible destination for LeBron in free agency.
Heat listed among LeBron James options
James officially became a free agent after informing the Los Angeles Lakers that he would continue his NBA career elsewhere.
His agent, Rich Paul, later discussed potential destinations for the four-time MVP on a whiteboard during an episode of the “Game Over” podcast.
Among the teams listed on Paul’s board were the Cleveland Cavaliers, Minnesota Timberwolves, Denver Nuggets, Miami Heat, Golden State Warriors, San Antonio Spurs, and Dallas Mavericks.
LeBron previously joined the Heat in 2010 and won two championships with the franchise in 2012 and 2013.

How Giannis got to Miami
The Heat became a much more interesting landing spot for LeBron after completing a blockbuster trade for Antetokounmpo.
Miami acquired Giannis and Bobby Portis from the Milwaukee Bucks in exchange for Tyler Herro, Kel’el Ware, Jaime Jaquez Jr., Kasparas Jakucionis, the No. 13 pick in the 2026 NBA Draft, first-round picks in 2031 and 2033, a 2030 first-round pick swap, and a 2033 second-round pick.
The move gave Miami another superstar and created a new centerpiece alongside Bam Adebayo.
