Charlene D. Smith of Green Cove Springs, Florida gained her angel wings October 30th, 2025, at the age of 63. Charlene was born August 15th, 1962, in Patuxent River, Maryland. Daughter of Edward B Clark Jr. and Lois Lyndaker Clark.
Preceded in death by her brother John Alexander Clark and her father Edward B Clark Jr. She is survived by her loving husband of 33 years Darrell Smith. Her daughter Jackie Grote (Jason Grote), son Darrell A. Smith (Jaima Keeley), grandsons Avery Grote & Easton Seward, Mother Lois Lyndaker Clark, brother Edward B. Clark III (Liz Clark), and brother-in-law Jason Smith as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews and nieces.
Charlene graduated from Clay High school, class of 81’. She was a Blue Devil cheerleader and a Jacksonville Tea Men cheerleader. She retired from Duval County Clerk of Court in April 2024.
She was a member of Church of The Way, Fleming Island. She loved spending time with family, worshiping the lord, Gator football, working out at the YMCA, working in her garden & the beach.
She will be remembered for her love for the lord as well as her positive outlook on life. She planted many seeds of encouragement to others to fight the fight and never back down. One of her greatest accomplishments was being a Mimi to her grandchildren!
Some of her favorite times were in Hawaii, Key West, Maine, Dry Tortugas, many camping trips and spending time with her pets.
Charlene D. Smith (AKA Mimi) will be truly missed by all who knew and loved her.
A Celebration of Life will be held on November 8th at Church of The Way: Visitation 10am-11am, service 11am. 1859 Town Hall Cir, Fleming Island, Florida 32003. Pastor Lucas Johnson will be officiating.
