TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – People all across the country are celebrating Independence Day, a huge milestone for our nation’s 250th birthday.
This day reflects the adoption of the Declaration of Independence in 1776 freeing the US from British rule and the official start of America.
While fireworks, barbecue and a day at the beach is one way to celebrate, some are also offering a time for reflection on the foundation that shaped our country.
FSU’s Institute for Governance and Civics director Ryan Owens says that our country was built on democracy and unity.
We are wishing everyone a safe 4th of July and a very happy 250th birthday to our great nation.
