TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – A controversial road expansion project in Tallahassee hasn’t seen any recent progress.
City leaders met on Monday to consider next steps to end traffic concerns for drivers.
The St. Joe Company is on the hook to build out roads in Southwood, including Orange Avenue and Esplanade Way.
As work stalled, the company asked for an extension.
In a special meeting, city commissioners could have penalized the owner of the property, NextGen Family Group for the delay, and the St. Joe Company for the delay.
Instead, commissioners voted 3-2 to postpone any action with hopes city staff can do an analysis of the whole Southwood transportation network.
Before the vote, an impacted HOA president shared his frustrations.
“This sale has put this parcel of land in what I call land use purgatory. Nobody is responsible, nobody is accountable, and we are left holding the bag,”
The commissioners said they hope after the analysis is done, this issue will be back in front of them in August.
