ORANGE CITY, Fla. (CBS12) — A 15-year-old Florida student is facing manslaughter after allegedly shooting and killing a classmate following a hallway altercation that escalated into deadly violence.
According to WFTV, Jacori Redding, a sophomore at Oak Ridge High School, appeared in juvenile court Friday, where he was ordered to remain in detention. Though he showed little emotion during the hearing, he turned and smiled as his family called out to him, saying, “I love you Cori!”

Orange County Sheriff John Mina expressed outrage over the incident, which he said began with a simple bump in the school hallway and a lack of apology.
“I’m really angry that something as small as bumping into someone in the halls of a high school, something that we have all done, has now turned into a deadly shooting of a 16-year-old,” Sheriff Mina said.
Authorities say the dispute led to a planned fight at nearby basketball courts after school. According to WFTV, it was there that Redding allegedly shot 16-year-old Pinien Dalmacy. Investigators say Redding then returned to campus with the firearm, where he was taken into custody.

Students described a tense atmosphere on campus, with lockdowns and worried phone calls from parents. “My brother was still in school, in lockdown for like, almost two hours,” one student shared.

Sheriff Mina also revealed that Redding was already facing charges in a separate case involving grand theft auto. Investigators are working to determine how he obtained the gun, whether through a known associate or off the street.
Little is publicly known about the victim, Pinien Dalmacy. School officials confirmed he joined Orange County Public Schools last year.
