The 18-year-old’s mother said he had just graduated Ed White High School and was getting ready to enlist in the Navy.
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A Jacksonville 18-year-old is dead after a shooting on the Northside early Tuesday morning, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office (JSO).
JSO investigators said officers were called to the 11000 block of Bridges road around 12:40 a.m. Tuesday to reports that a person was shot. Once they arrived, they found the man with at least one gunshot wound. Paramedics arrived and pronounced him dead on scene.
Investigators are still working to learn what led to the shooting, and have not named a suspect at this time.
The 18-year-old’s mother spoke with First Coast News and identified him as Alexander Rutledge.
Rutledge had just graduated from Edward White High School and had talked to a recruiter about joining the U.S. Navy.
