Discovery Cove at Sea World is celebrating two baby otter pups, and the first-time otter father was announced on Tuesday in a news release. The baby otters are two Asian small-clawed otter pups and were born on May 16. Their names are Hazel and Toffee, named by their caregivers, the release said. The parents of the litter, Butternut and Bing, are actively involved in raising the pups. However, Bing has been a devoted father by sleeping, taking care of the mother, Butternut, and protecting the family, the release continues. “Welcoming new animal ambassadors is always exciting, but seeing first-time parents successfully care for their pups is especially rewarding,” said Buck Lyman, Vice President of Zoological Operations for Discovery Cove and Aquatica Orlando.Animal care specialists continue to monitor the pups as they continue to grow.
