GOOD MORNING. TODAY IS JULY 7TH. I’M ERIN GUY WITH YOUR NEWS TO GO WEST PALM BEACH POLICE ARE SEARCHING FOR THE DRIVER WHO HIT AND KILLED A BELOVED PUB EMPLOYEE. CONNOR BLAISE WAS IN WEST PALM BEACH RIDING HIS SCOOTER HOME FROM HIS JOB AT SHEA’S. THAT’S WHEN HE WAS HIT AND KILLED BY A CAR THAT DROVE OFF. POLICE ARE CALLING ON THE COMMUNITY TO HELP THEM SEARCH FOR THE PERSON WHO COULD HAVE DONE IT. THE MARTIN COUNTY SCHOOL DISTRICT CUTTING DOZENS OF JOBS. BUT THEY SAY NO ONE WAS ACTUALLY LAID OFF. THE SUPERINTENDENT SAYS THOSE IMPACTED FOUND ANOTHER QUALIFIED POSITION WITHIN THE DISTRICT OFFICE. EACH DEPARTMENT CUT ALREADY VACANT POSITIONS, OR ONES THAT COULD BE ELIMINATED THROUGH ATTRITION OR RETIREMENT. WELL, THE PALM BEACH COUNTY SCHOOL DISTRICT IS ALSO CUTTING 76 POSITIONS FROM SCHOOL LIBRARIES. THIS COMES AS THE SCHOOL BOARD WORKS TO BALANCE THE BUDGET. Martin County Fire Rescue crews are battling a 75-acre brush fire near the Lakeside Ranch Stormwater Treatment Area of South Florida Water Management. The fire started just after 6 p.m. Tuesday off County Road 15B and State Road 710, west of Indiantown. No structures are currently in danger, and the cause of the fire is unknown at this time. The Florida Forest Service is en route to assist.
