Two days after a business owner was fatally shot outside his restaurant in Miami, family and loved ones gathered Sunday, searching for answers.
Outside of 40-year-old Dwight C. Wells’ restaurant, Winning and Won Turkey Legs, a makeshift memorial was seen with flowers and balloons on the patio.

According to Miami Police, the shooting happened Friday night at the restaurant, located at 5090 NW 17th Ave.
Police said Wells was playing dominoes with two other people when a subject walked up to him and shot him.
The suspect then fled the scene following the shooting.
NBC6 spoke to his mother, Mary Brown.
“What’s going through my mind is, ‘Why? Why did you shoot my son,” she said. “We know nothing right now
His family said Wells was a pillar in the community by being a business owner and activist who advocated for the community’s youth.
“Dwight, to me, was a loving person,” she said. “He loved children. He was the CEO of Bike Up, Guns Down Boys and Girls. When people would die, like children, adults, were deceased in the community, he would go to their homes, he would lead a crowd of people to different parts, and he would have us on our knees, and he would pray for us. He would pray for the deceased.”
NBC6 camera captured some people with the movement as they did a few circles around the business as a tribute.
“That was about helping the kids, the inner city kids, keeping them focused, keeping them out of trouble,” she said.
A suspect in Wells’ murder remains on the loose.
