After an earth-shattering performance in the FIFA 2026 World Cup, rumors are swirling that Inter Miami is interested in Cape Verde’s breakout goalkeeper.
Josimar José Évora Dias, nicknamed “Vozinha,” is a 40-year-old goalkeeper for the Cape Verde national team.

Cape Verde’s historic World Cup run is already fueling a surge in travel interest. Here’s how Croatia and Morocco turned World Cup success into a tourism boom and why Cape Verde could be next.
But why was his performance impressive enough to possibly catch Inter Miami’s eye?
Vozinha and his team were able to keep a clean sheet against Spain, a favorite to win the tournament, tying the Spaniards 0-0, a performance that saw Vozinha gain millions of followers on Instagram.
Most recently, in Cape Verde’s dramatic defeat against World Cup giants Argentina, Vozinha was one of the players that shined the brightest during the match.
Vozinha had eight saves, one of which came from an infamous Messi free kick. But Cape Verde fell 3-2 in extra time.
World Cup debutant Cape Verde held Spain to a scoreless draw behind a seven-save performance from 40-year-old goalkeeper Vozinha, earning one of the most memorable results of the tournament’s opening week.
Vozinha has had a club career that has taken him around both Europe and Africa, most recently wrapping up his time with Portugues soccer club G.D. Chaves in the second division.
Now this summer, Vozinha became a free agent, we will see if Inter Miami gets tempted to snatch him up and link him up with Lionel Messi.
