Since Epic Universe opened in 2025, I’ve probably been around 30 times, and I still notice new details every time I visit. From hidden dragons I didn’t know existed in the Isle of Berk, or another reference to my childhood video games in Super Nintendo World.
I have bad news
While I love exploring everything new, I also can’t help but have the favorites that I return to time and time again. If you know me, you know I spend a lot of time in Dark Universe, and yeah, maybe I still want to kiss Dracula on Monsters Unchained, but I also love the food. When I went to grab my favorite snack recently, I was hit with something terrible — my baked potato is gone, and I might need some privacy at this time.
At The Burning Blade Tavern, you could grab the Charred Loaded Potato for $11.49, which was hickory-char-crusted with montery jack, sour cream, jalapeño bacon, and chives on top. Now, my baked potato is off the menu!
My actual reaction
I could not ask for more out of this potato and was even quoted back in May saying this is “one of the best I’ve had in a long time,” and trust me, I meant it. Everything was perfectly portioned, and it felt much fancier than a lot of theme park food I’ve had. Come on, even the skin of the potato was infused with flavor!
It was shockingly good
The jalapeño bacon added a great heat, and the smokiness from the char took it to the next level. The portion was amazing too, and while you can definitely share it, I know it’s the perfect lunch after a long day in the theme park.

Well, it WAS a perfect lunch in the theme parks and now I don’tknow what to do with myself. I guess I’ll just have to order something else like the Hunter’s Garlic Stake, which is a crispy garlic butter pretzel with garlic dipping sauce…

…or Burning Cheddar Bites, which are crispy fried poppers with sriracha ranch. The burnt cheddar reminded me of some of the cheese on a Taco Bell quesadilla, but none of this will make up for my potato.

Fish On A Stake also still lives on at Das Stakehaus, which is another favorite of mine. The blackened salmon and green onion mashed potatoes are exactly what I need after a long day traveling through the portals.
