TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — A private aircraft with a single occupant made a crash-landing near Cascade Lake north of Tallahassee International Airport property Tuesday morning, prompting an Alert III aircraft emergency response.
At about 11:49 a.m. on July 8, the Tallahassee Fire Department responded to the incident. Airport Rescue and Firefighting crews and Tallahassee Fire Department Station 4 personnel arrived to find a downed aircraft with one occupant.
Firefighters treated the patient at the scene, and Leon County EMS transported the person for further evaluation.
Tallahassee Fire Department hazmat personnel began fuel containment operations after identifying fuel leaking onto the aircraft’s wings. Crews also searched the aircraft to confirm no additional occupants were inside.
The Tallahassee Police Department, Leon County Sheriff’s Office, Leon County EMS, the Federal Aviation Administration and the Florida Department of Environmental Protection were assisting at the scene.
The cause of the incident remains under investigation.
