Three Lee County teachers who are suspended without pay will now appeal their possible termination with the state.
All three are facing termination for different reasons, and all have asked for an evidentiary hearing before the Division of Administrative Hearings (DOAH). As a result, the Lee County School Board, in a quasi-judicial hearing on Tuesday, continued their suspension without pay and benefits pending the results of the DOAH Administrative Hearing.
DOAH is an independent state agency that conducts administrative hearings. The agency aims to resolve disputes between individuals, businesses, government agencies, and other entities under state administrative law.
The three teachers recommended for termination are Nuria Acuna, Mariah Roller, and Brooke Wold.
Acuna allegedly showed up to work under the influence of cocaine and allegedly gave vapes to students.
Roller and Brooke Wold are recommended to be terminated due to social media posts regarding the murder of conservative activist Charlie Kirk.
Neither the three teachers nor their attorneys attended the board meeting on Tuesday morning.Â
