TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – A Tallahassee pastor is calling on Gov. Ron DeSantis and U.S. senators to protect Haitian families from deportation.
Rev. Dr. R.B. Holmes Jr., joined by other local pastors, held a press conference Wednesday at Bethel Missionary Baptist Church. The group is urging lawmakers to pass legislation restoring Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for nearly 400,000 Haitians.

The push comes after the U.S. Supreme Court recently ruled to end TPS for Haitian immigrants.
“My heart is heavy because too many good people have remained silent while thousands of hard-working Haitian families now face the fear of detention and deportation,” Holmes said.
Holmes said he has sent letters to U.S. Sens. Rick Scott and Ashley Moody but has not heard back.
