CAPE CORAL, Fla. (WINK)— The Cape Coral Police Department arrested a man after finding him hiding in a pool bathroom with multiple firearms during an armed burglary investigation.

Officers responded to a home around 9:29 p.m. on Tuesday after receiving reports of a suspicious man on the property. Witnesses told police they saw a man walking around the property earlier in the day before returning that evening.

When officers arrived, they conducted a perimeter check and found Christopher Felix Santos inside a closed pool bathroom within the screened lanai. Santos exited the bathroom after officers issued verbal commands and was taken into custody without incident.

Inside the bathroom, officers discovered multiple firearms, including a loaded AR rifle, two handguns with optics and lights, a set of camouflage clothing, and blue tennis shoes. Property Crime Detectives took over the investigation and found evidence of forced entry, including fresh pry marks on doors leading into the residence.

Surveillance footage from a witness showed Santos walking around the property earlier in the day, checking access points. Later footage captured him returning to the residence and moving toward the lanai.

Santos, 35, has been charged with armed burglary of a dwelling. The investigation is ongoing.
