Waymo announces expansion to Tampa, three other cities

TAMPA, Fla. — The driverless rideshare service Waymo has announced its vehicles are coming to Tampa.

The announcement came as the company said it was also expanding to Las Vegas, Denver and San Diego.

It’s unclear when riders will be able to officially hail a Waymo in Tampa, but the company said to download the Waymo app to be “one of the first to ride.”

Waymo has already launched in two other cities in Florida, Miami and Orlando, where rides have been open to everyone since April.

Though, Miami is currently the only city in Florida where Waymo can use interstates for travel.
