The former president and CEO of the Greater Fort Lauderdale LGBT Chamber of Commerce is accused of charging $11,000 in personal expenses to the organization’s business credit card during his employment, according to court records.

Jason Nunez, 43, of Wilton Manors, was arrested Monday and faces one count of grand theft of $10,000 or more, according to a probable cause affidavit.

Between October 2025 and January 2026, purchases that police said were for personal reasons included charges from Uber, Zelle and Apple Cash, Brightline, Target, Walmart, Shell gas stations and a Wilton Manors barbershop, among others. The charges totaled $11,097, the affidavit said.

Representatives of the Greater Fort Lauderdale LGBT Chamber of Commerce did not respond to an email seeking comment.

Nunez pleaded not guilty Monday, court records show. His attorney did not respond to an email seeking comment.

Nunez filed a lawsuit against the chamber in February this year, alleging, in part, a breach of agreement, according to the complaint.

He worked for the chamber as CEO from November 2024 until he was terminated in January 2026, the lawsuit complaint said. Nunez alleged the chamber did not pay him between October 2025 and the date of his termination, according to the complaint.

Attorneys for the chamber in a response denied the allegations in the complaint and said the organization identified multiple purchases during the third quarter of 2025 “reflecting the diversion of chamber funds,” including transfers to personal Apple accounts, Zelle payments to Nunez and others and a $7,500 transaction “of unknown origin” that was routed through the chamber’s account and withdrawn in cash.

The lawsuit is pending.

Nunez in a post on Facebook in February announced his new position as the director of programming and external affairs for the Miami-Dade LGBTQ+ & Allied Chamber of Commerce. On Wednesday afternoon, Nunez was removed from the list of staff members on the organization’s website.

Representatives of the Miami-Dade LGBTQ+ & Allied Chamber of Commerce did not respond to an email seeking comment.
