DESTIN, Fla. (WFLA) — Two tired snorkelers had to be saved near Destin over the holiday weekend after they were swept out in a rip current.
Video posted to Facebook by the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office shows the July 4 rescue as the pair were located and pulled aboard the marine unit to be taken back to shore.
In the video, the boat pulls up besides the weary snorkelers and a marine unit officer is shown throwing them a lifesaver buoy.
“Hey, man, are you hurt anywhere?” the officer asks one of the snorkelers after the pair are safely aboard.
Fortunately, no one was harmed in the process.
The pair were snorkeling when they were spotted waving their arms for help, according to the sheriff’s office.
“You don’t realize how bad that could have been,” one officer told the pair.
