Heat advisory for all of Central Florida lasts from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. – Orlando Sentinel

It’s a dangerously hot day in Central Florida as a heat advisory for the region begins at 11 a.m. and ends at 8 p.m.

Temperatures are in the mid-to-upper 90s with a heat index up to 110 degrees, according to NWS Melbourne.

Thursday’s weather is part of an ongoing heatwave in the region, bringing a major and extreme risk of heat through at least Saturday.

There is a 10 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after 5 p.m. Hazards include frequent lightning, wind gusts up to 55 mph and heavy rainfall.

Winds are blowing south at around 5 mph.

There is a moderate risk for rip currents at area beaches.
