After years of searching, I finally found my match. Ideal Nutrition, which quietly opened at the end of 2025 in Downtown St. Pete, has become my new go-to for fresh, healthy, prepared meals for one.
The Florida-based meal prep store offers 40+ rotating meal options every week, all made with fresh ingredients. No preservatives, nothing frozen, non-GMO, and all sourced as locally as possible. Located at 360 2nd Avenue South, the store is tucked away in a more residential downtown location that you might otherwise miss if you don’t work or live on the block.
Meals are pre-packaged in healthy portions with all macros and nutritional information listed, and various offerings are tailored to a wide range of diets, including keto, vegan, gluten-free, low-carb, and more. Most meals are of the savory lunch or dinner variety, though they also have some nice breakfast options, as well as packages of fresh cuts of meat if you just want a bunch of chicken breast to cook your own way. There is also a cooler of health and protein drinks, as well as several shelves of healthy(ish) snacks.
Best of all: the meals are only $8.49 each, with rare exceptions here and there. That’s half the price of some of the big box delivery services, and it’s fresher when you get it. That’s at least a couple bucks cheaper than Publix, and the variety is better by orders of magnitude.
This may sound like a paid ad, but it’s nothing more than an adult who has little time and even less talent for cooking and finally found a prepared meals spot/service that checks all the boxes: interesting, fresh, healthy, flavorful, affordable, open at the hours that fit my schedule, and not out of the way. I walked in for the first time a couple weeks ago, felt like a kid in a [very healthy] candy store, and immediately bought a week’s worth of meals. A week ago, I went back for more. I’ll be back again before this week is out.
I’m assuming other people have also struggled through similar back-and-forths with various meal prep services, so this is me sharing a new find. And to be fair to others, there are several great local options; this is just the one that works for me, due to a combination of location, price, and store hours. They’re open 7 am – 9 pm every weekday, so it’s easy to pick up supplies after the gym in the morning or after work in the evening. If you go by around lunchtime, you’ll see people getting a single meal to heat up in the store’s microwave and eat right there at one of their tables.
I haven’t tried it, but Ideal Nutrition also offers delivery locally, which is free with a subscription service that you can cancel anytime. I prefer being able to just go by the store when I need food to make sure I don’t accidentally end up with too many meals and see a couple lost to expiration dates. But with food sourced locally and delivered straight from St. Pete rather than shipped cross-country on ice packs, that’s likely less of a worry here.

Ideal Nutrition got its start in South Florida but has slowly been expanding north. This is the first Tampa Bay location, with more apparently in the works. The St. Pete store is located at 360 2nd Ave S and is open 7 am – 9 pm Monday-Friday and 9 am – 6 pm on Saturday and Sunday. Learn more about them here.
