TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – One of seven people arrested in a Leon County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO) undercover operation last month has now been federally indicted, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office of the Northern District of Florida.
Amontea Mitchell, 28, is indicted by a federal grand jury for attempted enticement of a minor, attempted transfer of obscene material to a minor and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Mitchell was arrested in “Operation Fool’s End,” which was completed in April for those who sought to sexually exploit children online, per previous reporting.
The other suspects arrested during the operation included Christopher Brewer, Maxwell Brower, Jason Callahan, Jordan Harting, Tyler Haude and Jeffery Wharton.
The Tallahassee man is facing 10 years to life for the attempted enticement of a minor and attempted transfer of obscene material to a minor counts. Mitchell also faces up to 15 years for the possession of a firearm by a convicted felon count.

The undercover operation was done in conjunction with the Tallahassee Police Department, the Wakulla County and Jefferson County Sheriff’s Offices, the Florida Department of Law Enforcement and Homeland Security Investigations.
In addition to his federal charges, he faces state charges of traveling to meet a minor, promoting sexual performance by a child, soliciting a child for unlawful sexual conduct, transmission of material harmful to minor, use of two-way communication device to facilitate a felony, use of a firearm in commission of a felony and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, per records.
