‘Most intimate in Major League Baseball’: Renderings show inside proposed Tampa Bay Rays stadium

The Tampa Bay Rays are giving fans a look at the inside of the team’s proposed news stadium. Renderings show what the inside is expected to look like, including the grand plaza and rays touch tanks. There will be a large sunroof over the field and a first-of-its-kind viewing screen in Center Field, as well as “neighborhoods” in the stadium offering different food, drink and entertainment options. While the new stadium has yet to be fully approved, the team agreed to a memorandum of understanding with Hillsborough County in May. The stadium is set to open in 2029. The team returned to an updated Tropicana Field, their current home, for the 2026 season after playing their entire 2025 home schedule at Steinbrenner Field in Tampa while damage to the Trop caused by Hurricane Milton in October 2024 was repaired.The new stadium will be located on approximately 130 acres in Tampa’s Westshore District and Hillsborough College’s Dale Mabry campus.
