TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – Crews are battling a fire at the Florida History Museum in downtown Tallahassee, according to the Tallahassee Fire Department.
TFD said they received reports of an active fire in the R.A. Gray building around 3:45 p.m. on Thursday.
There are several crews on scene working to contain the fire, according to TFD.
The building was evacuated and there have been no injuries reported, TFD said.
TFD urges the public to avoid the area as they work to put out the fire. Martin Luther King Blvd between Pensacola Street and Madison Street is closed.
The fire started in an exterior construction area before extending into the walls of the building between the second and third floors of the building, according to TFD.
The cause of the fire is not currently known.
The RA Gray Building also houses the State Library of Florida, Florida State Archives and the state elections office.
It is unclear if the fire is in the museum itself, or another part of the building.
