The Leon County Commission will consider whether or not to impose a year-long moratorium against the creation of AI data centers in the county at their upcoming July 14 meeting.
County staff are recommending that the commission both accept the report and to consider the moratorium.
“If enacted by the Board, a 12-month moratorium on large load customers, including large-scale data centers, would provide time for staff to consider the unique planning, infrastructure, and compatibility considerations that such facilities with substantial electric or other utility demands,” staff wrote in an agenda analysis.
