The 2026 MLB Draft kicks off on Saturday, July 11, at the Pennsylvania Convention Center in Philadelphia. Follow along here for live updates for each Florida Gator selected in the two-day selection process.

This year, a handful of current Gators and one departing senior are eligible to be picked by one of 30 major league franchises. At the top of the draft projections is junior pitcher Liam Peterson — who is expected to be taken in the first round — along with fellow junior hurlers Russell Sandefer and Luke McNeillie; two-way redshirt sophomore standout Caden McDonald is also among those whose names are in the draft hat this summer.

On the position side of things, senior outfielder Blake Cyr along with sophomore infielder Ethan Surowiec headline the list, and are joined by redshirt sophomore outfielder Kyle Jones; junior outfielders Hayden Yost and Jaden Bastian are also among those who could hear their names called in the two-day, 20-round event.

Here are the Gators who have been selected so far:

RHP Liam Peterson: Cleveland Guardians – First Round (No. 19 overall)

“He is the 26th first-round selection in program history, including the secondary phase, and the 231st Gator drafted. Peterson is the 117th draft selection and 15th first-round selection under Kevin O’Sullivan.

“The stuff projects as an MLB starter if Peterson can continue working on going deeper in games. His 60-grade fastball is in the high-90s velocity with triple-digit potential, but it can come out of the hand a bit flat, especially when overthrown. Peterson’s slider has plus-plus potential, and he began throwing his curveball more. Peterson also has a serviceable changeup that he utilized more this season.” — David Rosenberg
