Northside Jacksonville High School’s football team is making waves this season, standing at 6-1 and leading the Coastal Conference.

The Monarchs recently secured a victory against West Carteret with a score of 42-28.

Junior running back Rahlai Anderson has emerged as a key player, amassing 714 rushing yards and nine touchdowns.

Anderson’s performance complements the team’s strong passing game, led by sophomore quarterback Reginald Gray.

This week, Northside faces a challenging matchup against Dixon, who holds a 5-2 record.

Meanwhile, in college football, former West Craven star Brayden Manley and his Georgia Tech Yellowjackets remain undefeated.

Manley contributed half a sack in their recent game against Virginia Tech.

Georgia Tech is preparing for a first-place showdown against Duke, who is also 3-0 in the ACC.

The game is set for noon at Wallace Wade Stadium.

In other sports news, the Eastern Senior Women’s Amateur is underway at the Emerald Golf Club in New Bern. Competitors, all over 50 with handicaps better than 17.5, are vying for the title in this 54-hole event.

Former WCTI sports anchor Kim Briele is among the participants.
