LEE COUNTY, Fla. (WINK)—Southwest Florida International Airport (RSW) will shut down water to part of the facility as part of an ongoing $1 billion expansion project.
The airport said it will shut down water to concourses B, C, and D overnight on Sunday and Monday. The shutdown is expected to last between 9:00 p.m. and 4:00 a.m. There will be no water in the concourses and restrooms will be closed, the airport said.
But flyers can use restrooms in the main terminal and rental car facility, which will not be affected by the shutdown. Water will be restored each morning by 4 a.m., the airport said. A boil water notice will then take effect for the three concourses.
This means no drinking or potable water will be available from restroom sinks, water refill stations or drinking fountains. Concourse restrooms will remain open and functional during the boil water period, with hand sanitizers available at all locations, the airport said.
The boil water notice will start Monday morning and could last through Friday, according to the airport. That depends on when the Florida Department of Health authorizes normal water use.
The Lee County Port Authority said it will post updates on the airport’s website and Facebook. The work is part of ongoing efforts to increase capacity at the airport. The $1 billion project is the most expensive infrastructure project in the history of Lee County,
