Florida gas prices shoot up after tensions escalate in U.S.-Iran conflict

  • July 13, 2026

SARASOTA, Fla. (WWSB) – Gasoline prices in Florida are continuing a roller coaster ride after tensions between the U.S. and Iran escalated over the weekend, AAA is reporting.

The state average price for gasoline declined early last week, then rose 13 cents per gallon.

Oil prices increased in overnight trading amid uncertainty surrounding the Strait of Hormuz, a key route for global oil shipments, according to Mark Jenkins, spokesman for AAA – The Auto Club Group.

“With tensions in the Middle East adding uncertainty to the global oil market, gas prices could remain volatile in the coming weeks,” he said in a news release.

Sunday’s state average of $3.82 per gallon was:
