TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — Smoke pouring from the roof of a single-story home on Hampton Avenue prompted a quick response from Tallahassee firefighters Friday morning.

At about 8:47 a.m. on July 11, the Tallahassee Fire Department was dispatched to a reported residential structure fire on Hampton Avenue. Crews from Station 3 arrived in less than five minutes and found smoke coming from the roof.

Firefighters entered the home, located the fire in the attic and quickly extinguished it. Primary and secondary searches confirmed no one was inside the residence.

The home was unoccupied at the time of the fire, and no injuries were reported. The cause is believed to be electrical in nature, with a possible lightning strike identified as a contributing factor.
