A small aircraft made a controlled landing into the Gulf of Mexico near Honeymoon Island

The Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office says the aircraft experienced engine problems, therefore forcing the emergency landing. The two occupants then exited the aircraft and walked to shore with no reported injuries.

A conservation organization plans to sue the feds for failing to designate critical habitat for a shorebird, the rufa red knot

The US Fish and Wildlife Service listed the red knot as threatened under the Endangered Species Act in 2014. However, the Center for Biological Diversity says it has failed to designate and protect the critical habitat as required by law.

The primary election for the Hillsborough School Board District 2 seat is August 18th.

A paddleboarder has been found dead at St. Petersburg’s Lassing Park

While her death was ruled unsuspicious, the cause is still being determined.
