Impact heat and late-day storms for South Florida
WITH US TO WORK WITH US ON THIS MONDAY. YASMINE HAS THE MORNING OFF. SANDRA IS HERE TRACKING ALL OF THIS FOR US. SANDRA WELL, HERE YOU GO. WE HAVE THIS EXTREME HEAT THAT HAS BEEN DOMINANT ALL WEEKEND LONG THAT SAHARAN DUST IN THE MIX. WE HAD VIOLENT STORMS LAST NIGHT. A COUPLE OF SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS. BUT HERE WE GO. THE PURPLE IS WHERE WE’RE GOING TO BE MOST INTENSE WITH HEAT INDICES HERE BETWEEN 105 AND 112 PROBABLY NOT SUSTAINED FOR A COMPLETE TWO HOURS, WHICH IS WHY WE DON’T HAVE HEAT ADVISORIES, BUT STILL IMPACT NONETHELESS WITH A MAJOR HEAT RISK, ESPECIALLY IN THE PALM BEACH COUNTY AREA, EVEN EXTREME. AND HERE’S THE SAHARAN DUST. IT IS QUITE DENSE RIGHT OVER SOUTH FLORIDA. NOT GOING ANYWHERE QUICKLY. THERE’S A HUGE PLUME THAT CONTINUES TO LINGER AND CHANNEL IN AND MIX IN WITH THE ATMOSPHERE. ONE ISOLATED SHOWER HERE JUST OVER THE WEST PALM AREA WEST OF THE TURNPIKE. OTHER THAN THAT, IT’S QUIET THIS MORNING IN THE WAKE OF THOSE STORMS YESTERDAY. RIGHT NOW, TEMPERATURES IN THE 70S, MID TO UPPER. IT’S 81 IN BOYNTON. LITTLE HOT, HOTTER THERE ON THAT STATION. BUT BOTTOM LINE IMPACT THIS AFTERNOON FOR 93 TO 95 IN THE PALM BEACHES. OUR ACTUAL FORECAST HIGH ON THE TREASURE COAST YOU’RE SEEING 93 TO 95 AS WELL. IMPACT WITH SOME STORMS REALLY MOST DOMINANT LATER ON THIS EVENING RIGHT PRIOR TO SUNSET.
