TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – The Leon County Humane Society is asking the community to donate dry dog and cat food as supplies at its Community Pet Pantry continue to dwindle.
“The pet pantry is a lifesaver for people and their pets,” said Executive Director Lisa Glunt. “It keeps families together. It keeps animals out of rescues and animal shelters when space is already so sparse.”
The pantry provides free pet food and essential items to families in Leon County and surrounding areas who need help caring for their pets, especially during difficult financial times.

According to the non-profit, donations typically decline during the summer months, even though the demand is steady.
“We have a greater number of animals in our care with fewer donations coming in for pets in need, and that need never stops,” said Glunt.
Community members can help by donating dry dog and cat food at the Leon County Humane Society’s office on Timberlane Road during regular business hours.
Monetary donations are also accepted and help support the shelter’s other programs, including its Animal Medical Assistance Program, which provides financial assistance for veterinary care on a case-by-case basis.
