Historic Orlando building above Tanqueray’s bar evacuated after pipe rupture

BREAKING NEWS. AND WE DO CONTINUE TO FOLLOW BREAKING NEWS IN DOWNTOWN ORLANDO. THIS IS EXCLUSIVE VIDEO SHOWING WATER POURING INSIDE OF A BUILDING, FORCING EVERYONE INSIDE TO EVACUATE. AND RIGHT NOW THERE IS A BIG MESS BEING MOPPED UP. THAT’S RIGHT, A VIEWER SENT US THE VIDEO AS THE WATER CONTINUED TO GUSH OUT. YOU CAN SEE IT THERE. THIS IS HAPPENING ON SOUTH ORANGE AVENUE RIGHT AT THE CORNER OF PINE STREET. THAT’S WHERE WESH TWO TONY ATKINS IS LIVE. TONY, WHAT DO WE KNOW SO FAR? WELL, JESSE, THIS IS A HISTORIC BUILDING. IT’S OVER 100 YEARS OLD. AND I DID HEAR FROM THE CITY IN THE PAST HOUR. THEY SAY THAT THEY SENT US A CORRECTION, AND THEY SAY THAT THE CAUSE OF THIS WAS AN OLD IRON PIPE THAT HAD RUPTURED. SENDING WATER HERE, GUSHING DOWN THE INSIDE OF THIS WINDOW. IT ALMOST LOOKED LIKE SOME SORT OF MODERN ART DISPLAY ON SEVERAL WINDOWS HERE. ON THE FIRST LEVEL OF THIS BUILDING, I WANT TO SHOW YOU SOME OF THAT VIDEO. AS WATER SURGED DOWN FROM ONE OF THE UPPER LEVELS HERE. AND FOR REFERENCE, THIS IS THE BUILDING. IT SITS ATOP THE POPULAR DOWNTOWN UNDERGROUND BAR TANKER RACE. NOW, PEOPLE I SPOKE TO WORKING HERE DURING THE CLEANUP, THEY SAY THAT THE BAR ITSELF DID NOT FLOOD, BUT THERE WERE FIRE CREWS AND INSPECTORS ON SCENE JUST CHECKING THINGS OUT, LOOKING TO SEE WHAT EXACTLY CAUSED THIS. I ALSO SPOKE WITH PEOPLE WHO BOTH WERE A PART OF AND WITNESSED THE EVACUATIONS JUST A FEW HOURS AGO. IT WAS JUST LIKE SPILLING, LIKE IT WAS LIKE. UNBELIEVABLE. LIKE I COULDN’T AT FIRST. I LIKE STOOD THERE. I WAS LIKE, IS THIS REALLY HAPPENING? I HEADED OUT THE BACK STAIRWELL, WHICH THERE WAS WATER COMING OUT AT THE BOTTOM OF THE STAIR, RIGHT. A LOT OF PRESSURE. WATER WENT OUT TO THE STREET. A LOT OF OTHER EVACUEES OUT ON THE STREET AND THEN WENT AROUND THE CORNER OR STARTED TO GO AROUND THE CORNER, AND YOU COULD SEE WATER JUST KIND OF GOING HARD AGAINST THE GLASS IN A SPACE THAT THEY WERE RENOVATING. YEAH. NOW, IN THE HOURS SINCE THE SPILL, THERE WERE A NUMBER OF CREWS, THE CLEANUP CREWS OUT HERE, THEY HAD VACUUMS AND DRYERS INSIDE WORKING TO GET ALL OF THAT DRIED UP AND CLEANED UP. ALL YOU SEE IS ALSO LOOKING INTO THIS, AS WELL AS THE CITY, THE FIRE DEPARTMENT’S FIRE MARSHAL AS WELL. FOR NOW, I’M COVERIN
