TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – As America 250 celebrations continue, the Historic Capitol Museum in downtown Tallahassee launched the start of a new activity with hours of crafts and story time Tuesday.
The free museum kicked off the “Revolutionary Friends” StoryWalk experience. Families can read the children’s book page by page as the walk through the halls of the historic building.
The book details the friendship between George Washington and the Marquis de La Fayette, the French general who is credited for aiding the American effort in their fight for independence from the British.
Museum Director Tiffany Baker says Bastille Day, the most patriotic day on the French calendar, was the perfect time to launch the experience.
She added that there are multiple ways to enjoy the StoryWalk.
“In addition to the individual StoryWalk pages, we have the ability for you to use a QR code to listen to a reading of it,” she said. “So, if you don’t want to, you know, spend the whole time walking through and reading each page, you can just listen to it maybe in one of our cozy reading nooks.”
The museum is open Monday-Friday from 9 a.m- 4:30 p.m., Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Sunday from Noon to 4:30 p.m.
