Authorities are searching for a suspect after a 12-year-old girl was shot in the Gladeview area of Miami-Dade early Tuesday, the sheriff’s office said.
Deputies responded to the gunfire just before 1 a.m. at Northwest 21st Avenue and Northwest 64th Street, where they said they found the girl “with an apparent gunshot wound to the upper extremities and immediately rendered aid.”
Investigators later said the girl was shot in the arm while sitting in a car with her three siblings. Two other vehicles were also shot.
Miami-Dade Fire Rescue took her to the hospital in stable condition, and she has since been released.
Bullets hit three vehicles, including one with children in the car, authorities said. NBC6’s Julia Bagg reports.
Video of the scene shows authorities surrounding a home and blocking off the roadway. More than two dozen evidence markers could be seen on the street.
Neighbor Marie Grimes remembered hearing the gunfire before she found bullet holes in her car. She said she’s grateful the outcome was not any worse.
“Yes, because there’s a lot of children that stay down there. I’m just so glad she’s OK,” she said.
