TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – After 25 years serving viewers in north Florida and south Georgia, veteran WCTV journalist and morning anchor Lanetra Bennett will be signing off at the end of August.
Lanetra has been a full-time co-anchor of WCTV’s The Good Morning show since 2020. As her family grows, so does Lanetra’s desire to spend more time with them.

“Once my niece was born back in October, it made me start reflecting on birth, new life, and new beginnings. There was a tugging at my heart for me to make a fresh start. I started imagining the possibility of being closer to my niece, my sister and her husband, and my mom, who has moved there to Atlanta with them. I am open to possibilities and look forward to what God has in store for my new phase in life,” Lanetra said.
In August, Lanetra will celebrate 25 years at WCTV before her final newscast. She is looking forward to inviting the community to participate in a series of goodbye events to be announced by WCTV later this month.
Lanetra’s roots run deep in Tallahassee. She bleeds green and orange as a 2000 graduate of Florida A&M University. Lanetra loves her community and appreciates all of the shared connections, experiences, and friendships developed.

Lanetra worked her way to the anchor desk from the ground up, starting as an associate producer with WCTV in 2001.
Hard work quickly earned Lanetra a promotion to a full-time producer position, but she continued working towards her goal of being an on-air journalist.
In 2004 Lanetra began covering Taylor, Suwannee and Lafayette Counties. South Georgia viewers also saw Lanetra often. She focused on a beat that included Decatur County earlier in her career.

After developing a reputation as a trusted journalist and friendly face, Lanetra started filling in as a co-anchor with Art Myers on GMS. She was promoted to the full-time position with Art and Rob Nucatola in 2020.
When she’s not anchoring a newscast, Lanetra loves to be with her family. Lanetra’s fans have come to look forward to her sharing about her family movie night’s with her mom and grandma (Mama Love).
