PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. (CBS12) — Firefighters rescued two dogs after responding to a house fire in Port St. Lucie Friday night.

St. Lucie County Fire District crews were called to the 100 block of Castana Court around 8:02 p.m., where they found a single-story home with smoke billowing out.

Officials said initial reports indicated there may have been people trapped inside, but all residents were quickly accounted for.

Crews launched an aggressive interior attack, searched the home, and rescued two dogs from the fire.

Two people were evaluated at the scene. No firefighters were hurt.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation, per SLCFD.
