Miami Beach police is pumping the breaks on a social media video which appears to show a Waymo in an accident with a bicyclist on Miami Beach.
Detectives say a driver of a black Mercury Grand Marquis tried to make a U-Turn in the 1000 block of Collins Avenue and hit the bicyclist, who was legally riding in the travel lane.
It happened in front of the driverless taxi, which stopped.
The bicyclist was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The driver of the Grand Marquis was cited.
Waymo has released a statement about the incident:
“Our vehicle was stopping to pick up a passenger when another vehicle in a nearby lane and a cyclist collided. There was no contact at any point between the cyclist and the Waymo vehicle.”
Waymo did say the bicycle hit the front of its vehicle.
