A suspect has been arrested in the fatal stabbing of a man in Pompano Beach Tuesday night, authorities said.

The incident happened just before 7 p.m. near the 2500 block of East Atlantic Boulevard, Broward Sheriff’s Office officials said.

Deputies and fire rescue crews responded and found the man suffering from multiple stab wounds.

He was taken to Broward Health North Hospital where he was later pronounced dead. His identity remains unknown.

The suspect, 67-year-old David Rice, left the scene but was found a short time later and taken into custody, officials said.

Detectives believe Rice and the victim were known to each other, and are working to identify the victim.

Rice was booked into jail on a first-degree murder charge.
