TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – A Tallahassee nonprofit that provides workforce training for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities is expanding its mission to create more career opportunities beyond the kitchen.
Formerly known as Inclusion Cafe Academy, the organization is now called Heart & Skill Connections, reflecting its broader focus on preparing participants for a variety of careers through hands-on training and real-world experience.
The announcement comes after the nonprofit recently celebrated the graduation of its latest class during WCTV’s Something Good segment last week.
The name change represents the organization’s goal of offering workforce training in additional fields, according to Bill Schack, founder of the nonprofit.

“We wanted to make sure people understood we’re going to expand and go into maybe painting, maybe photography, janitorial skills, office work, retail work,” he said.
The nonprofit is seeking community partners to help develop the new training programs and expand opportunities for participants.
“We just need to find the partners that are going to be able to help us develop that training,” the founder said.
The next Heart & Skill Connections cohort begins in August.
