TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – The Tallahassee Fire Department is expected to deploy members of its Urban Search and Rescue Team Thursday to Texas in support of response efforts, according to the fire department.
In a social media post, TFD said that its Florida Task Force 7 (FL-TF7) was activated to deploy the Type 3 Swiftwater Team.
The deployment follows severe flooding in Texas, which has claimed at least one life and left several people trapped in their homes, according to the Associated Press. Many others have fled to higher ground as the region continues to recover from the devastating floods that occurred just a year ago, AP reports.
The fire department went on to reveal that teams all across Florida are answering the call to help Texas during this time of need.
“Safe travels to all those deploying,” TFD said.
