TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – Leon County Schools has hired a marketing firm to recruit students back to public schools, using political-style and digital outreach strategies.
The school board approved a one-year contract with Caissa K12, a company that specializes in student recruitment campaigns. Under the agreement, the district pays only for students who are successfully recruited, not up front.

Superintendent Rocky Hanna said enrollment has dropped about one percent per year as more families opt for vouchers and private schools. The district is turning to Caissa K12 to help communicate its academic record, including 28 schools that recently earned an A or B grade, the best grades since 2012.
“They all recruit. And so now public schools are in the age of competition, and it’s coming upon us to recruit as well, and so I’m super excited about that contract,” Hanna said.
