TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – Leon County Schools has approved a contract with TPG, a cultural exchange teacher recruitment program, to help fill open teaching positions across the district.
The school board approved the one-year contract, which the district says will bring fully certified, experienced teachers from other countries.

Superintendent Rocky Hanna said the international teachers will not replace local hires but will fill gaps in hard-to-staff subject areas, including special education, math and science.
“This program with TPG allows us to get highly qualified and experienced teachers, maybe from the Virgin Islands or Jamaica or the Philippines, but they come with experience. They’re fully vetted, fully certified by the Florida Department of Education,” Hanna said.
Hanna said several teachers have already been hired at two Leon County elementary schools.
