ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (WFLA) — Police arrested a man Tuesday in connection with a violent attack that occurred at Bartlett Park in St. Pete.
According to the St. Petersburg Police Department, the incident occurred on July 6 at 6:30 a.m. in Bartlett Park, located at 2000 7th St. South.
Police said a man was lying down on a picnic table bench when the suspect approached him, punched, kicked, and stomped on his face. The suspect then stole an unnamed item from the victim’s backpack before leaving the area.
The victim was left in critical condition with severe injuries and disfigurement to his head and face, SPPD said.
D’eauary Thurman, 49, was arrested Tuesday on charges of second-degree attempted murder and robbery.
